this post has been very insightfull! I have had the same problem i fitted new plates and the handbrake doesnt work! Which manual do you guys have as i couldnt find anything about that in mine? :roll: so it was a case of suck it and see, it works just... i dont think id park it up Everest though :lol...

Thankyou brain i was thinking maybe it was that or the head gasket. so how would I go about testing the block? Might be an idea before putting new liners in maybe?

theres 4 or 6 bolts to hold the nose on, two at the back and two in the front i think? not sure on the size but i retapped mine to metric 8mm (as that was all i had) and that fitted a treat so not sure what the old school equivelent would be.?

i know its brutal but i have seen someone drill a load of holes in a piston to take the pressure off then get a jack underneath and it budged, it doesnt allways work though it can just lift the tractor haha

oh thats abit of a pain i had the pump and injectors all re-conditioned, and when the pump came back the screw was just wound right in. Looks like a trip back haha

she is running like a clock im so pleased :D There was that apprehensive moment when i 1st started and there was no oil pressure, but after about 5seconds its built up to just over 40psi :) at low revs and tick over its still well over 40 and raises slightly when you rev it haha. Hi all hoping to get my major started today but have a few questions!
Firstly i have the mk2 major and a simms injector pump, is there an oil level i should check and where do i find it??
Any help or tips for running the engine the 1st time would be greatly appreaicated,

oh that is abit of a pain in the.... :lol: HAve you tryed these guys there from the midlands area, but will post out parts at a price might be worth a punt to see if they havee anything, i have phoned them before about bits and they seems realsonable on price, for genuine parts. http://www.railswood...

thats a nice press there :) i went and bought a 20ton press and been pressing that collar but still cant get the bugger to move :x i had 10 tonnes of pressure of it and the bearing blew up and went everywhere! :shock: So i could get the plates underneath proberly to press it, but ive put around 8-10...
