Thank you Shep, I will check the area you suggested.
I used the tractor today to bushhog and it ran very well, so I don't believe I have a major problem. This tractor will outlast me I suspect.

Re: fuel leak out the pig tail
I filled the lift pump with fluid and worked the lever. The pump holds vacuum at the inlet and pressure at the outlet. I also removed the five screws and examined the diaphragm. I saw no ruptures and under the diaphragm was dry. I put the lift pump back on the injection pump and pumped up pressure. ...

Re: fuel leak out the pig tail
Thanks for the replies. I may have not given enough information in my original post. I bought this tractor about ten years ago, it did not run. The tractor had a lot of things wrong but the injection pump was in working condition and the lift pump had been replaced by the previous owner in an attemp...

fuel leak out the pig tail
Hi, I have a 1964 Super Dexta with the Simms mechanical governor fuel pump. When I pump the lift pump lever, fuel comes out of the pig tail vent tube. I did some research and it seemed like a ruptured diaphragm in the lift pump could be the issue. However, after I removed the lift pump I could pump ...

Re: auxiliary chest leak
There are rubber O-rings in the auxiliary valve chest. Heat would no doubt destroy them. What are you trying to move exactly?

Re: auxiliary chest leak
That would have been an excellent idea, but I couldn't detect any threads in my plug. The screw did bite in enough to work.

Re: auxiliary chest leak
Success! Maybe. I got the retainer out, the key I believe is to allow penetrating oil to soak in for a week or more. Then, there is a small hole, approximately 1/8 inch in diameter in the center of the retainer. I used a wood screw forced into the hole. This pushed the retainer further into the bore...

Re: auxiliary chest leak
I still have not gotten the retainer out with it on the workbench. But, yes you can get to some of them with the valve chest still on the tractor.

Re: auxiliary chest leak
Thanks for the replies Mathias. Yes, the unit is on a work bench and the roll pin has been removed. I tried blowing the retainer out with air pressure, that didn't work. Do you know what ports are necessary for the lift to work? In other words what holes can I block and still have a working lift. I ...

auxiliary chest leak
My Super Dexta is a 1964 model with the hydraulic auxiliary chest shown in the picture below. I have a substantial oil leak from the areas circled in red in the picture below. https://i.ibb.co/J25zbJk/Polish-20200604-100836240.png There appears in the picture to be an oring behind the retainer. I ha...

Re: water pump replacement
The new kit has a gasket that is shredded just like the other kit. I made a gasket out of some material I had from a previous project, that part is fine. The first kit had an impeller that was not as tall or beefy as my original Dexta impeller so I used the original one. I really only needed a seal....

Re: water pump replacement
Just to let everyone know, Yesterday's Tractor is sending me a new rebuild kit. The gasket was not their fault, and they are standing behind their product. I will buy parts from them again.

Re: water pump replacement
Got my rebuild kit. Look at the gasket.
Also, the seal is metal on both ends, and in the bore. I don't see how that could seal the pump.

Re: water pump replacement
Ok, heres an update, it's not good. The new pump leaks out the weep hole. I have not even started the tractor, it leaks just sitting there. I contacted the seller and he supplied a return label. I then ordered a rebuild kit and plan on rebuilding my old pump. I have cleaned the housing on the old pu...

Re: water pump replacement
Just to give everyone an update, I have removed the old pump and ordered a new one as well as a replacement backing plate. The old plate was made of fiber and worn through. The replacement pump should be here tomorrow, the replacement backing plate is already here. http://i527.photobucket.com/albums...

water pump replacement
Hi, I have a 1964 Fordson Super Dexta. The water pump has developed a drip out the weep hole under the pump shaft. I know this needs to be fixed, my question is are there rebuild parts (seals, bearings, etc) or will I need a new pump? I suspect the answer will be a new pump, so question number two i...

swinging drawbar interchange
I have a 1964 Fordson Super Dexta that I would like to install a swinging drawbar. Can anyone tell me if the swinging drawbar that fits a Ford 8N or Ferguson TO 20 will fit my Super Dexta? This is what I am looking at: http://www.amazon.com/Swinging-Drawbar-49A34R-Fits-TO20/dp/B0076Q5Y2U%3FSubscript...

No new posts?
Something strange is going on, I am not seeing any new posts. I do see when people reply to old post but it seems as if there has been nothing new posted since the start of the year. Is it just a slow time of year? Or is something wrong?

The throw out bearing is only a bearing, it slides out of the yoke once the spring is released. I would not expect to pay more than $20-$30 dollars for the bearing.
Releasing the spring is quite a challenge. Search for "dexta release bearing" at the web site below:
