Re: Tractor DVLA Registation

Hi there, I was undergoing this process for my dexta a wee while back. Because i'm based in scotland I went through S.V.T.E.C......Scottish Vintage Tractor and Engine Club,I had to send a few photographs of my dexta, including a few close-up shots of the serial number. This was then sent to the club ...

I see from your profile you are based in north wales..... perhaps Carmarthen Vintage Society-01267 275585 and the associated names for that club are Alun H Evans and John D G Hancock. Another club I can see that is base in wales is The Griffin Trust-01513 274701 and associated names are David A Beck...

Are you sure there wasnt the remains of an old rubber seal up in the groove where the seal locates into? I had the same problem once....luckily I spotted the oil leaking just as the engine fired up.

Re: steel radiator cowel

A few months ago i got a new steel fan shroud/radiator cowl from forge services....it fitted alright although i had to make the drilled holes slotted to make it fit.
Hope this helps.

Re: oil in exhaust

Hi Brian, thanks for your response-yes the valve guides were changed-and your definately right about diesel engines needing to be worked steady after engine work has been carried out. We rebuilt a david brown 950 maybe 500 hours ago and we notice a huge difference in starting/overall performance....i...

Re: Pressure in cooling system?

Hi there, yes i have filled it to the top, then as the thermostat opens i topped up the water level-then it just slowly comes up the pipe and spills out continously. Its got me confused anyway-ive helped to rebuild a few tractor before and this has certainly never happened. :?: Maybe this is a stupid ...

Pressure in cooling system?

Hi there, well i got my dexta started up for the first time tonight after a full rebuild-however i noticed that water seemed to be forced up the radiator pipe, but i couldnt see any obvious bubbles.....so what could be the cause of this? I had the cylinder head skimmed and the face of the block polish...
