Re: Pto pump issue solved, then broke again ! Shim pump ?
I would make sure that you use good quality o-rings that are specifically for hydraulics. All o-rings aren't the same.

Re: Pto pump issue solved, then broke again ! Shim pump ?
When you removed it this time, did you find that the same o-rings were blown out?

Did you remove the pump again? What did you find this time?

Re: INJECTOR PUMP FOR FSM
HaydnA, Do you mean that you have to hold the pump in with one hand, so you can put the bolts in with the other? If so, that is normal, depending on the position of the fuel pump lobe on the cam. If you can tighten the bolts, without using an excessive amount of force, release the compression releas...

Re: engine overhaul
I would probably put new nozzles on them, while you have them apart. I guess it's not really necessary, though, if it starts and runs okay, and doesn't smoke.

Re: INJECTOR PUMP FOR FSM
Depending on how "dead" it is, a diesel injection shop can probably fix it. A vacuum or mechanical pump will fit on a Mk. III block. You may have to drill and thread some holes.

I'd like to see some pictures, too. I'm sure that the ones on my Super 6 aren't original.

I have a lot of extra Major parts. I'm not sure if I have any of those, though. I'll look in the next few days.

Re: Fordson Power Major diesel oil filter change
I'm sure that you could put a remote mounted filter somewhere. Like Emiel, I'm wondering why you need to do that. Filter cartridges are readily available online. They are even in stock at my local auto parts stores.

Re: Very Bad Things.....
I also have a bad habit of starting my Majors while standing on the ground beside them. I always check twice to be sure the transmission is in neutral, but it's still a bad habit. The only safe way to start any tractor is while sitting in the seat. I'm glad that you are ok. I hope your Major and you...

Re: Fordson Muffler
When Ford changed their casting markings to FoMoCo on the later production Super Majors there would have been no requirement or need for Burgess to do likewise, so their silencers would still bear the Enfo marking. That's interesting, Shepp. I wonder how long they made mufflers with the EnFo marking?

Re: Fordson Muffler
The first time that I ever saw our '55 Major was also in 1966 ,IIRC. It was Empire Blue with white wheels and grilles. When I get around to re-doing it, it will have white wheels and grilles again. I know that's not the correct color, but it seems like the right color for that tractor. My Super Majo...

Re: Lost thread about cylinder de-glazing w sandpaper
Its hard to say exactly how long it will take. You need to get the coolant up to operating temperature and work it hard for a few hours. You have to give it hard work periodically or it will start burning oil again. It's possible that yours needs rings, or an overhaul.

Re: Lost thread about cylinder de-glazing w sandpaper
I know this isn't the question you're asking, but the easiest way to de-glaze the bores, is to put a big plough behind it and work it like a rented mule!

Re: injector pump drive oil seal
I didn't think that you were trying to start anything Jim. That's one thing that I don't like about internet forums. You can't hear the tone of a person's voice when they "say" something on here. You gave some good advice. Putting a new seal over that old rusty shaft would get dirt in the timing gea...

Re: injector pump drive oil seal
I worked at a sawmill for a few years. I was the mill yard maintenance man, but I worked with the millwrights all the time. That was a junk engine in those pictures. I removed the seal to show someone else how to do it. If it had been a good engine I would have cleaned the shaft and the dirt and pai...

Is it the seal on the pump itself, or the one in front of the drive coupling on the engine?

Maybe I'll put a Dexta together for the wife, with a pink muffler. It just doesn't seem right to put a pink muffler on a "Super" Major

I decided to drill and tap them for 6-32 threads. I couldn't find the studs I needed, so I cut a couple of pieces off of a machine screw, then put Loctite on them. Here's how they turned out. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/9515/7aZYFN.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/7256/9MDI6W.jp...

Re: Fordson Muffler
It is an exhaust made by Burgess, It is stamped just across from the ENFO logo .I believe they supplied the exhausts when the tractors were new. And it should be painted blue. Liam I thought the Fordson mufflers were made by Burgess. This one could be original, but its in better shape than a 55 yea...

Rick, I can't find any high-temp Empire Blue muffler paint over here, for some reason! And my grilles are blue, but they're off of a Mk. I Major. I'll fix that eventually. But it should be painted Blooooooooo like the front grilles

Re: Fordson Muffler
I didn't paint the muffler orange. I found some high-temp silver/grey.
I didn't know that there were after market parts with the EnFo logo. I'll bet this muffler is only a few years old.
