Re: Roadless width
I'm thinking the wheels will turn farther thus having a shorter turning radius, not to mention wider is more stable, Pat Correct me if I'm wrong here Pat, but we are talking about a front axle which pivots on a pin mounted along the front to rear centreline of the tractor, then the width of the fro...

Re: Duals... What are your thoughts?
I have a set of duals for my 57 Major. I love them. They spread the weight over more surface area. More contact area with the ground. Also keep the tyre on top of the ground more, so your driving along the ground, not with single wheels where you have to drive though the loose ground. Didn't notice...

Re: New member introduction and "newbie major" questions.
Hi Witty As you move from different area of repair on your tractor, to another area, it is usually a good idea to start a new thread. It makes it easier for people to follow your progress, but more importantly it's easier/faster when looking up a previous past post on a certain subject. Good to see ...

Re: 6D Power Major
So this Power Major is one of the four tractors we drug home last summer, it was mostly an organ donor as the engine was partially disassembled and tight from sitting outside. The 6D is the 150 hp junkyard engine I picked up last fall, and the row crop I got from a real nice guy over in Minnesota a...

or you could replace your lift arms with chains. Only take 5 mins to change when wanting to disc harrow, then change back. Have done it this way myself. Use short chains, so I can still lift harrow at the end of a 'furrow'? And keep the rigid top link? The chains can be the same length as the lift ...

My Major has an after market ignition switch fitted. When I wired it up, I made it so that you had to hold the key in the start position(spring loaded part) AND push down on the starter engagement lever, for her to turn over. I too was guilty of standing in front of the rear wheel to start her prior...
