wiring paranoia

Hi again, I have just rewired, now the 'what ifs' are setting in. From the previous forum a couple of you have put in a fuse. Can you advise me what size fuse you used and where exactly you put it in the wiring! Actually I was surprised just how durable the original bits have been, one of the mudgua...

Ben, there's a bloke out here who sells lots of parts, he sells Bareco frames, lists the same one for the dexta and some of the red tractors ( ) , lists the folding one as MF1F. Do they sell in your neck of the woods?

Regards, Derek.

thanks for the replies, I have spent today stripping out the front end to see what I can achieve. The following is the centre yoke of the axle assembly, the centre hole looks better now without the well worn bush but I am worried about the obvious stress fractures, you should be able to see them in ...

pivot pin spacers

Hello from summer climes... I am in the process of renovating my front axle, my Dexta has no spacers on the pivot pin. Can anyone provide either a source of these new or dimensions to make, please? Secondly, the main axle yoke, as a result of years of slop, has a hairline crack either side of the pi...

The 25th Dec is only a few hours away for us now, not much chance of snow at Xmas here but the Dexta sure fires up well in summer! All the best to this helpful community, keep safe. Regards, Derek.

yeah, Kev, there are plenty of Petrol Dextas popping up on Trademe, perhaps Kiwi farmers liked petrol as an option. Those are for sale where I was living until the start of the year. Mine's a diesel though. Catch you down this way some time?

No problems getting a seal, the local J Deere shop has an attached hydraulics unit, had one next day. My problem now is how to re-insert the piston into the cylinder without damaging the new seal as it is decidedly firm and I just don't seem to have enough fingers to compress it all the way round! K...

Thank you for that, thought something was odd!

We have some excellent seal/bearing folks here as well as a FNH dealership so it shouldn't be a problem to track something down.

Looking forward to getting everything back together to see the improvements.

seals on hydraulic piston

Hello from spring in NZ, I have been overhauling the hydraulics, usual issues, replaced pivot pin, freed yoke to adjust etc. I have received an o-ring and seal kit, I can't work out exactly what to do with what I presume are seals for the piston. In the kit is a large rubber o-ring and a flat leathe...

settings for sickle bar mower query

G'day again, I have recently acquired a MF 327 sickle bar mower to follow my Dexta about (rightful place!), quite functional but not being an old hand at the fine tuning of such things I wonder if anyone has such a thing as a manual for one, or knows a source for one. Bit of a long shot, I know, so ...

wording

The wording definitely reads "guard must be removed when using implements other than those driven by power take off shaft"
I managed to get a guard in as new condition for $1 on an online auction! I have a photo, if you want a copy let me know. Cheers, Derek

mine are orange!

My '61 is still in it's original livery too, and certainly orange around the gills. What about your export/import from down this way, Brian, does it still have its grills? Perhaps this was an export thing!

 Hey, who is nicking my Dextas and sending them back to the mother country? I bought mine and various other Fordson stuff from the NZ auction site, www.trademe.co.nz - there's quite a range there at present, anyone fancy a SuperDexta for a couple of hundy quid, I could stick a stamp on it and...

funny how people like doing this kind of thing, round here are those who dress up their shiny 4WD Japanese utes with a snorkel as if they actually take them off-road. Always fancied sticking a snorkel on the side of a Mazda MX5 for a bit of satire!
