Well the pump Should be ok then, how About the the valve that dumps the lift perssure when you select "down"?
Could it be sticking. It Should move easy and yet seals properley in bore

Re: Testing and repairing hydraulic pump
As Henk says,it is more easy to measure pressure at the cover (and safer) but if the pressure is low-how do you know if the problem is in the pump or in liftsystem?

Re: Testing and repairing hydraulic pump
hi I think you need to run a test of the pump itself "in tractor",ram and cover off, then fit an outlet pipe to the pump itself with handoperated "strangle-valve"+your preassure gauge. This should give you a realistic picture of the pumps capacity and perhaps remove some unknowns from the equation :D ...

Was the tractor lifting Something when you measured 150 bar? Otherwise I dont See how it can build such pressere, are you sure the lift isent jammed somehow.

Re: Testing and repairing hydraulic pump
Yes , by endbearing I mean the machined surface around the hole where the lower rotor-shaft should go looks erroded(in my opinion)Sorry about the arrow,no can do .You might be able to check the clearance with a straight-edge.

Re: Testing and repairing hydraulic pump
Hi there,
Looking at the foto "nasty grooves" and at the area around the hole where the lower rotorshaft goes,it looks to me that a considrable wear has taken place increasing the "end clearance" of the rotor.I think that is where you are loosing pressure.
Kind Regard

Hi there, Congrats with the "new" familie member and wecome aboard! I had the same problem with my super, turned out to be down to several controlarm links inside the lift-cover having seized solid with rust.So in my opinion it is off with the lift and get it upside-down on the workbench(2 man job) a...

Re: Simms injection pump
If you want to give it some extra lube, you can unbolt the drainpipe banjo bolt and squirt som sae 30 oil into the pump housing.Remember to clean and lube the small filter on the pump.
Ticking sound could be from the injection pump drive, thats the "major sound ".

Re: Simms injection pump
Vacume pump is lubricated by the diesel that leaks from the pump elements, and does not require further attension besides cleaning of the little air cleaner under the little round cover bolted on top of the pump rack.
I add a little ATF in the diesel ,I Think it is good for the injection system

Re: Front axle bolts/sump pin removal
You could check to See if lube oil is rreaching the rockers when you start up again,if it does then the seive Should be ok.
But still if you want to do the oil seals then the sump must be off.

since I startet the thread, i have done the following to the engine:- - changed the injectors, got a used set from another super which seemed to help the "harsh " running but not the smoke and "lumpy" starting. -converted to vacume governor and put it to work mowing the meadows, several days of work! ...

Not trying to be a wise guy but i think the effect of 0.2 mm would matter only if you took it off the Block (deck) and so bring the piston crowns closer to the head.

Re: engine overhaul
the thrust bearings look fine to me.Lots of assembly lube and there must be no binding at all when when you spin the crank by hand after you torque the bearings.any binding and you stop and find out what is wrong. And you will end up with a good running engine.
