Hi Barry, Any switch broken or otherwise will be gladly accepted. I have time to look for a new one myself or work miracles and rebuild any nearly dead switch that comes my way. My petrol kero E27N is a long term project and knowing what you are looking for is 90% of the battle when you are looking ...

Hi Barry, I have been looking at all sorts of pictures of Perkins engines and none seem to fit. You are right the P6.305 uses the same long intake manifold as the P6TA. All the pictures of P6M engines also seem to have the same long intake. The P6.354 engines have the intake and exhaust on the same ...

Hi GT, It looks like your tractor earns it's keep every day. The pin at the front should be as strong and hard as possible, but the wear at the back needs to be taken care of too. The bars should be straight. If you were to use high tensile bolts I would make sure that they were a very tight fit. Pe...

Hi Barry, I drove past the Ballarat swap meet this year but could not stop because I was shifting a friend's belongings from Melbourne to Nhill. I couldn't park in the car park with the motor bike in the back of the ute and expect it to be still there when I got back so I kept driving. Bugger! Any d...

Hi Barry, I am no expert on Perkins diesels, but the P6 305 will fit in most places that a P6 TA (288) will fit and they seem to be very common in marine aplications. The P6 305 water pump will almost fit a P6 TA engine too apart from the fact it is about 10 mm taller than the TA pump and has a diff...

Can anybody tell me what fits into the end of the dash box?
Hello, I have an E27N TVO or Petrol Kero for us Aussies with full electrics, it is a 1951 model and it has a large hole with three small holes drilled around the circumference on the left hand side of the electrical box on the steering column. As I have never seen a working tractor with electrics, c...

Hi Stefan, Have you tried to get in touch with Bob McCulloch at Cassic Engine and Spares. http://www.classicspares.u-net.com/ I know he buys old engine parts and he lists Petter as one of the engines he supports. He advertises that he is always on the look out for parts. Regards, Frank. P.S. I don't...

Hi David, That is one fine looking tractor, but no electric start. Now that is scary for me. It reminds me of our E27N. It had electrics but they never worked. When I was a young boy only nine years old, I kept pestering my father to teach me how to drive the tractor. Many of my friends at school we...

Hi David, That is one of the best cared for tractors that I have ever seen. Please keep it (her) in the same perfectly original condition she is in. You should be very proud to own a tractor like that. Do you know the history of your tractor? Was it part of your family? My father was never kind to t...

Hi Mark, It may be that Bulldogs never got to the states. They are a very popular tractor to restore in Australia. They have a huge exhaust pipe and when they are under full load they can blow perfect smoke rings. They are a single cylinder two stroke diesel and have been known to stall and start ru...

Hi Mark, In answer to your question regarding why would you run the tractor on milk when it is the same price as diesel. That is only true at the retail level. If you have a dairy farm and are producing milk, the price you actually get paid is only a small fraction of the retail price and it makes g...

Hi Mark, It may just be that dead dinosaurs (fossil fuels) are limited commodity and the people who are pumping it out of the ground have finally cottoned on to the fact that you can make a lot more money by selling less rather than more. The last time I looked the cost of production of a barrel of ...

Wow! That is the best original Dexta I have ever seen. All that tractor needs is a light wipe with an oily rag to bring up the colour of the paint a little and it will be a show stopper. It is a true credit to the owner for looking after it so well. My father was never so kind with any of our tracto...

Hi Brian, That aint cheap. I cant believe that I bought a complete headlight off a Ford Prefect that I passed on to Stevo for $30 Australian only a couple of years ago. Hello All, I can't beleve the prices these lights get either. I remember recently seeing an eBay auction for a complete running E27N listed at a starting price around the $600 Australian. The tractor was quite close to me being in Bendigo and I was tempted. The ad ran with a line in it saying the st...

Hi Emiel, Thanks for the information about the PTO shaft. I just assumed they would fit because I have seen E1A Major hydraulic lifts fitted to E27N Fordsons. I know the bottom plate on the rear end interchanges so you can fit the hydraulic pump and I know you have to change the shaft so that you ha...

Hello Pascal, That is a great article about fitting the raised PTO. I have always wondered if a raised PTO would fit on an E27N. I have an E27N fitted with a P6V engine that is good for 80 HP at 2400 RPM but I can't use it because I need 540 RPM on the PTO for most things. A raised PTO would solve m...

Hello Hemi, The color of your tractor should be a dark navy blue. This is not the same color as the later E1A (or styled Fordsons) as they were a much lighter shade of blue. I believe that Sparex stock the paint but I am not sure as I have never used it. They have S.84393 listed as Fordson Blue as d...
