Did you ever find out the make of loader?
It shares some similarities with the Chaaide 800tc but the arms and ram look different. To me it does not look like a Bray or a Weatherill either.

That is a very informative post. The Manufacturers were certainly crafty when things were due for an update!

Re: Good luck Brian and Oscar
It is a shame but I think the whole forum concept is changing with so much done on twitter and faceache. I don't do either.
Would there be scope for members joining in with one of the farming forums with a classic machinery section?
Regards and thanks to all.

Re: A few questions
Thanks again Guys Much excitement today as my Friend received the original buff log book in the post. Incidentally I made a mistake in my original post, the casting codes were late Aug 55 and early Sept 55 the number on the logbook gives Sept 1955. The first date of reg was 6th Oct 1955 with Lanark ...

Re: A few questions
Thank you both very much for your informative posts. We were a right pair of anoraks looking for the casting codes. We have a number on the firewall/bulkhead albeit a little difficult to read. I did not realise about the earlier machine/engine no location. We will have to investigate. After seeing s...

A few questions
Hi all I have not posted on here for ages but have a friend with a recent purchase. We have checked over the machine and we think it is a very original April 1956 with casting codes from late sept '55 and Oct '55. Obviously a slight delay from raw metal to finish. Were the numbers allocated on the e...

Oil Pressure gauge
Another question: Has anyone come across a blocked tube to the gauge? I thought the gauge u/s but tried another and then found that with the engine running there is not any oil pumping out at the gauge end. There does not appear to be an obvious kink or crimp.
Thanks Peter
Thanks Peter

I have a major leak on a Major p/s unit. It appears to be from the main pulley shaft. Can someone point me in the right direction? Is it a matter of removing the pulley and then the seal or is the job more complicated?
Thanks Peter

Major skid
Hi All Have not posted on here recently but I have bought an old Chaseside 700 this week. The original engine number was 1535289, so thinking that is late 1959 and the Chaseside might be early 1960. The current engine has an S as a prefix so would that be a factory replacement? I have not investigat...

Re: vicon spinner
You could do with a model type plus handbook or copy for the spinner settings or it will be guess work. If it is an older machine it will probably spread 10-12m at 540rpm at the PTO. If you only have a small area only open the speader a small amount and work over a known area. You can always go over...

Re: automatic major
It really does show the significance of the Major that a complete and specific unit was designed for the Major.(At least in terms of the layout and external castings).
I wonder whether or not if the Ford company might have had a large input into the design?

Looks like a Brockhouse by the side plate where the strainer is located. Not very handy if it goes wrong, parts were unobtainable 30years ago.

Re: Gearbox Temperature
The gearbox on our old loader, probably weighing aroun 5t used to get very hot when worked hard, particulary if pushed hard on a soft field picking up bales.

Re: Now this is rare
It would seem that it is an early backhoe/excavator. The boom/dipper being rope operated. The operator sits to one side and the machin jacks up on the big plate underneathe for slewing, that appear to be hydraulic action. The consensus on CMN was that it might not be the original skid.
