Re: PTO Drive Shaft slips under heavy load

To me, it sounds more like a slip clutch problem than a tractor problem.

There is the same slip clutch on our rotary pasture topper which releases on over-run.

Re: Winsam Cab

Thanks for your kind words gentlemen :D My brother took the tracor out on a charity tractor run on Sunday which was not too warm. He reported a heavy shower half way round made life a little miserable for those without a cab, but he was dry with no leaks. A problem I need to address is the up-draugh...

Re: Winsam Cab

Hi Brian, I will probably end up fitting an electric window wiper at some point. I was under a bit of pressure to get the cab finished for tomorrow (Sunday) because my brother wants to take it on a tractor run organised by a local enthusiasts group. My intention is to fit a windscreen wiper, indicat...

Hi Brian, that is a tidy looking cab you have there and apparently in good order. I was a little confused about how your right hand door opens, until I realised there isn't one! A little more progress on our cab refurb. We have boxed in the areas around the foot pedals, it doesn't look too pr...

Re: Winsam Cab

Hi Brian, I hope your cab fitted easier than ours, it didn't come from a dexta and all the wheel arch radii were wrong and at the wrong angle, so we have had a lot of altering to do. We are altering the doors to be a full length full width fit and putting the compound shape into the door skin has be...

Just to chuck my twopenny's worth in,

When my tractor still had its roll bar on, I turned a 10t bottle jack on its side and pushed out the pin from against the roll bar.

Re: Brakes

Absolutely stuck on the half shaft; the way to go is :- 1. Soak the hub/half-shaft interface with loads of easy-free type lubricant and leave as long as possible. 2. Locate, beg, borrow, fabricate big pullers. Three leg best, two - ok. 3. Apply pull pressure with the pullers, hub may come off 4. If ...

Re: Should dynamo get hot when running? and oil leak pic

I hear what Mervyn is saying but I have just addressed this problem oil leak on one of our dextas, and it turned out to be a failed gasket between the injection pump and timing case.
Easy fix with a new gasket or instant gasket.

Re: Leaking Combustion Chamber Gaskets

Hi Gerald,
Thanks for the reply.

The copper rings were missing when the caps were removed and only full face copper gaskets were fitted.

I will remove them and check with a straight edge. If I find distortion, I suppose I could always remove a few thou with the milling machine.

Leaking Combustion Chamber Gaskets

Hi Guys,

I have just installed new copper gaskets to the combustion chamber caps but can,t seem to stop the leaking from around the edges.

Any Ideas would be apprreciated. :?:

Would an instant gasket application to both sides of the copper work do you think?

Re: Top Link Rocker

If you have a safety frame fitted, you should be able to use a small car jack horizontally against the frame to push out the pin.

Failing that you might have to remove a mudguard and/or some lift linkage to get a good swing for driving it out.

Re: My Dexta just stopped

Hi. I feel that I should just mention that although you have cleared the blockage for the moment, it is quite possible that it will block again, due to the tank having in it, more of what blocked it in the first place. The permanent solution to this is to remove and perhaps pressure wash out the ta...

Jamie, What exactly did you do - cut a piece out of one side and weld a piece of sheet on the outside to give a fraction more clearance? Or did you split it and open it out to a bigger diameter? Or maybe both!? Was your original one missing, or completely beyond hope? I'm going to repair mine. Hi B...

Hi, The inside end of the side stud is also held on by a nut behind the casting. This nut is probably loose which is why the whole thing is turning. My guess is that the threads on the inside end of side stud will be damaged now and so the inside nut will not tighten anymore. If you have access to h...
