Re: Clutch rebuilt but not working
Hi Sorry to say it Sounds like your ford mechanic might just be a fitter and could be so full of poop you need to find another mechanic :eyes: . You do not shim the clutch from the flywheel on a dual clutch from what i know. I think you may find a dead drive bearing won't fit the clutch tube and bea...

Hi Brian Welcome to the board, we was all newbies once  . wouldn't worry to much about the link, there's ebay links on the forum pretty often and we aren't miserable like the yesterdays tractor forum in the states is about some stuff  . I wonder if as more of a general discussion it may b...

That's why we started to use EGR systems -- more power and good for the environment. Seriously, Rick, any idea why it happens? Even had one of Henks posts upside down. Never happened before recent weeks. Pavel Hi Pavel I heard these upside down posts have come about due to there being a load of che...

Re: Is this the oil pressure switch
Correct, but the earlier ones didn't have an oil light, they just had an oil pressure gauge. Ive got a 1954 major and its got a gauge, oil lights were used on the power major and super majors. Are you sure your major is a 1954? Could it have a later engine in it, and they have transferred the dash ...

Re: Full engine rebuild
Hi Was just reading both your posts about this tractor and the pressure switch. somethings wrong here if your tractors a 54. as it should have a mechanical oil gauge that works with a feed pipe not a light and pressure switch  . The oil gauge should be in a tin box with the temp and amp gauge,...

Hi Don't know if it will help or not some of those motors had CAV pumps and injectors, and some had Bosch equipment fitted, I had one once and we put it in my buddys puller when he blew a motor  , his injectors were CAV and we pulled the Bosch ones out and fitted his tuned ones straight in the ...

Hi as far as I know from my 5000 tractor here in Canada, and what I have seen in wrecking yards also here. The last blue grey supers had the pto guard bolted on with 4 bolts( 2 each side). The guard is the same shape as all the other majors. But the mounting is 2 angled brackets bolted to the sides ...

Hi Henk I have known about this for a while and did not want to be the first post about it really and what happened on here, because the family might find the posts talking about it, and it's not really fair to them at this difficult time. if you Google search Donald and Shirley Parkinson , you shou...

Re: 4WD Conversion Using A Land Rover Axle
Hi I would say if you want a proper hard working tractor, the land rover axle would be the weak link, if the rest of the drive lines ok , after you have gone to all the trouble of designing/ finding or manufacturing parts and getting it to work  . From my experience of pricing out machine shop ...

Nick, The aluminium steering wheel was very common on the E27N but were not fitted to the New Major. If you measure the diameter it will probably be 17 inches, whereas the New Major had an 18 inch diameter steering wheel. Hi Barry It seems There was new majors fitted with Aluminium steering wheels ...

Re: 6 cylinder major
Hi Welcome to the forum the easiest motor to fit is the ford thames trader 6d upright motor from the mid 50's early 60's. none of the truck or industrial 6's are a direct bell housing fit, due to aluminium sumps and the bottom curve being different ( the top of the block is right). frame rails, fron...

Re: Super Major Air Hose. Filter to Inlet Manifold
I bought an air hose from my local agricultural engineers who are agents for Sparex. Guess what, the hose would not stretch over the inlet manifold end, although it fitted over the air filter outlet. Two phone calls to Sparex, Exeter and another new air hose ordered, as they said they would provide...

Don't think it will fit as column hole is not on center like the major. Just going by pictures as I haven't physically seen the power tank. Still waiting for confirmation. hello, my son and I are planning to build a reverse loader, and change the crown wheel, we would have liked it to have a crownwheel steady on the other side, but this is not possible. We are planning to use the E 27N rear housing and low ratio, as it has a higher clutch and brake pedal shaft, we al...

Re: Perkins P6 pistons
Robert, The truck manifold and the Fordson Manifold were different. Truck manifold had its outlet at the front with a bend in it, and as you know the tractor came straight out the back. And, I can assure you, that a P6 with a truck pump and injectors really has some get up and go in a tractor pull.[...
