Re: Ford to close its Australian Manufacturing Plants
Yes its the end of the line for the Falcon, but not unexpected. Leaves only Toyota and GM/ Holden, making cars in Australia And is the VF Commodore the last Aussie Holden?

Sky blue, your other option for soft ground work would be to put duals on the back of your Dexta, just an option that you might consider.....TSG.

Re: Ford 4000 front axle pivot pin
I thought only 2000's, 3000's and 4000su used front axle pins, normal 4000's, the pins are a part of the front axle assembly, held in place by the four bolts that hold the front bush in place. With 3000 with the hexagonal headed axle pin, on other sites they cut the pin to get the front axle out, an...

Re: 4000 oil leak
Yes, definitely do both the pilot and thrust bearings, and some people would also suggest the input shaft seals too.Admittedly when I did my 4000 I didn't do them, but thats nearly 20 years ago and they are 40+ year old tractors now, hence my suggestion to do the 3 rear frost plugs while the tractor...

Re: 4000 oil leak
Shergar, I would suggest that you should split the tractor first, so you can see exactly what you need. I suspect that its most likely that the rear main is leaking and neededs to be replaced, but what about the three rear frost plugs too,and how is the clutch/pressure plate assembly? As for parts f...

Just wondering what people on the forum were doing today, and what weather they had, considering its a bit cooler on the other side of the equator :eyes: Among other things to do today, I had to go up the road and bale some hay with the 4000 and the IH 440 for the AB technician ( Thats Bruce in the ...

Re: Wanted Dexta key
Dexta, my thought on this subject would be that if the vendor has not left the key in the tractor so it can be started, or if the vendor or their agent are unavailable to start the tractor at your request, then the tractor is a non runner, and should be valued as a non runner. As allways at auction,...

All the Dexta's, Super Dexta's and Petrol Dexta's that I own or have seen all have hand brakes on the left as Bens Dexta :D But in saying that, I have seen a 3000y with a right side ratchet handbrake on it rather than the standard left sided handbrake, that I suspect has been fitted after the tracto...

Glad you sorted your electrical problem. The fuel lift pump. Pressure is only felt whilst the priming lever is pumping fuel. When the system is full of fuel [primed] the lever is no longer able to move the internal diaphragm because it is in its extended position. In this situation the lever just '...

Re: ford 3000
Snowman, I see no reason why it shouldn't fit, but remember 3000's are normally Livedrive and the 4000's are independent PTO.But before you start, just check that the 4000's camshaft has the drive gear for the hydraulic pump. TSG.(Its quite warm down here too, might need some !!!)
