Re: need some advice!
Hiya chaps, Well the head is off! Which now leads me to think of a few things. Firstly, the number on piston is wet, its oil, I've checked the gasket, although it is not broken up there looks like oil has been seeping into the cylinder. Next, the piston rings must have gone, there was an oil drip in...

Re: need some advice!
Hiya, The Fordson is early, 1952 I think. I don't think there is a breather on the there. I didn't think the early one had one? It doesn't run well enough to work hard (I don't think) its seems to be very knocky as well. Ive checked the running with the oil cap off and place my hand over it, there i...

Hello all, Another post on here... I have just ran the tractor again after a couple of months, I have been looking around her and checking all that I could... that was until I found a lot of oil almost pouring out the front crank seal, also the dipstick is rather hard to keep into due to the pressur...

Re: Diesel Pump
Nice! Thank you Brian!! I will try the oil in the tank. I'll keep that in mind for the future as well. Yeah, at the back of the pump. My manual does have a cross sectional view of this as well. Just as a side note Brian, do you think it is worth me making a thread about the restoration of my tractor...

Re: Diesel Pump
Cheers Brian!
I believe the tractor was sat for a few years, however I have had it running, so I assume the diesel then lubricates it??!
Is it easier to take the plate off with the pump on the bench or will it be okay with it still on the pump?
Thanks

Diesel Pump
Hiya, On my early 50s fordson major I believe I have a pneumatic governor. From speaking to a farmer down the road, he reckons that it needs oiling. I've looked online and there has been mixed information about this. Also the service book doesn't include anything about the oiling. Another problem I ...

hello, On my Fordson major the metal work under the brake pedals has corroded away. I think I have a part number of 2521. However I've been looking for a good hour or so online and cant find one anywhere. It looks like I could probably make a new one. Has anyone got any dimensions or a drawing. Cheers

oh right...
currently I have no stop cable on the pump...and the lever is always on the full fuel (coldstarting). it doesn't come back unless I manually push the lever. is there something wrong with the pump??

stop cable and pump!
Hey chaps, Ive got a couple of questions... Firstly, how loong is the stop cable for the Fordson Major? As there seems to be a few different sizes out there. Also, the fuel pump cut off lever, should the excess fuel automatically come back to normally running, or do I need the stop cable there to gi...

Re: fuel pump coupling
yeah its rotational, but the tractor is running with a fair amount of smoke, so I was just thinking the coupling might be upsetting the timing?

fuel pump coupling
Hiya all,
This might sound stupid but how much play should there be in the coupling, the flexible pad bit... I've go about one or two mm in either direction, is that too much??
Thanks

lift arms brackets
This may be a bit of a stupid question, but I need both brackets fro the lift arms, the ones that bolt on to the rear axel. Firstly what is the proper name for these, and does anyone have an idea on where to get the things from, found nothing online so far :( Or dimensions might be helpful if no whe...

At the moment the tractor isn't ready for the road but I was just thinking about it.
So where are all of the serial and casting number then?

Where to get the wires
hello,
I am wanting to make a new loom for my fordson new major. I don't want to buy a made one, as it cost around 40 quid. Does anyone know where I can buy the tracer wires, as I cant find them anywhere. It is the wire like the black and blue tracer.
thanks
