Fordson E27N Manifold drain valves

Post by Ronnie »

In the manual for my E27N it is showing two manifold drain valves I can not see them on the tractor.
When I turn it over and before it fire there is two jets of fuel come out from some where. This stop as soon as the tractor is running I presume this is coming from these valves.
I would be grateful if anyone could help me locate them thanks in advance Ron

They are on the bottom of the 2 intake runners on the intake manifold. They are hard to see with the manifold installed.

They are basically a shuttle-style check valve, with no spring. The valve is held open by gravity on the shuttle, until the engine is started. Then the engine intake vacuum draws the shuttle up, closing the valve.

If you are getting fuel out of them with the engine off, they are doing their job, but it sounds like you may have a carburetor float valve sealing issue that ideally should be dealt with.

Hope this helps - SR

Thanks SR that helps a lot I will have another look. I will check the float valve that would explain why the fuel is in the manifold
Thanks again for your help Ron
