fuel pressure

Post by jkilmer83 »

what should fuel pressure be on a 54 fmd?? I have a aftermaket that was put on a long time ago I is electric. I can get the tractor started and put some load on it then it will die. I bleed the fuel filter and can get it to start. now it just dribbles fuel out of teh filter breather like it has no pressure. I think I need a lp shoud I get a mechanical one or a electric again? (the 2nd major I got for parts had the same electric lp)

First thing to check is the filter that is part of the fuel tap on the bottom of the fuel tank. Take the fuel line off and check for flow.
If no flow, will then need to remove fuel tap from tank. You may want to remove tank from tractor to void spilling, or what I have done before, is hold a 20 litre container and funnel under the fuel tap, and then screwed tap out.(hope you have less than 20 litres in the tank)
I run an electric pump on my 57 Major, with no worries.
