Engine oil filter

Post by henk »

Hello,

Yesterday I wanted to change the oil and oil filter of my 57 FNM.
Seems I'm missing some parts in the filter house. In it there was the short filter with the small hole. I was thinking it would contain the longer filter with the bigger hole. On a picture from Pascal his engine the filter house seems shorter, therefore I think it would have the shorter filter in it.
There were also two springs in it. They seem to be one of the shorter filter and one for the longer.

I want to make a large diameter washer and a rubber seal between the filter and the spring.

In this situation the filter could not work right I think. Has it after more than 4 years any consequents for the engine? And how would the oil pressure react when the filter is rebuild in the right way?

Any comment?

Grani,

I have the left model on the first download picture.
I have the picture in my partbook, but you can't see if it is the long or short filter.
Kind regards, Henk
