Generator Charging

Post by Gman »

Hello everyone, hope all is well. Is there a simple test to check to make sure generator is charging properly? I have a volt/ohm meter if needed. My power major has been starting with no probem even during this winter but the battery was purchased last summer so wanting to make sure it is being charged. Thanks for any advice.

When you start the tractor there is a light that says GEN on the little display thing. It should go out if the battery is charging up. We had this problem with ours, turned out the control box had rusted away .. inside :o Anyway I stuck a new one in and the battery charges now.

Gman,

Check your battery voltage, it should be about 12V. Start the tractor. The voltage should not go any lower than 9 or 10V. Run the tractor with some higher rpm and it should give more than 13,5V.
Kind regards, Henk
