Storing an Injector Pump

Post by JC »

Now that I have more injector pumps than I have Majors ( for now  ), I need to store one. Brian has said that they are supposed to be filled with a special Shell oil for storage. I don't have any of that type of oil, so I plugged all of the openings, filled it with ATF, wrapped it in a plastic bag, put it in a box, and put it in a dry, well-ventilated storage area. Do you guys think that will work, or do you have some better ideas?

Take off the side cover, lay it on its back and fill it up. I also pumped oil in the fuel inlet hole, until it came out of the bleed hole, but I don't suppose that's absolutely necessary.
