Colour Scheme

Post by bluecraig0776 »

Hey Guys, on my 1957 Major Diesel what colour should the front grilles be and the exhaust? I've seen models with blue grilles, silver grilles and orange grilles. As for exhaust should this be silver or blue?

Please Help

Oh boy oh boy,

Here we go again :P

Everything was bleu. Including the grill and exhaust. Problem is the bleu exhaust will loose its paint rapidly.
I use heat resistance paint silver.
Kind regards, Henk

Thanks Henk, just wasn't 100% sure. The orange grilles look better but better stick with the original.

I wonder if some of the dealers didn't look at the ad with the orange grills, and go out and paint them orange to make them look like the ad, and make it stand out better. Anything to get something sold. The customer is always right. What do you fellows think? Or am I just spreading manure :?:...... Dandy Dave!

My Father-In-Law can remember his grandfather had a brand new Major D iesel in 1957 and the grilles and exhaust were blue and his uncle got either a power or super major which had orange grilles.

Looking through magazines etc, it would seem that many restorers paint grilles orange as it loos better but I'll be painting mine blue.
