drive pinion bearing

Post by massey148 »

Noticed a damaged bearing on drive pinion shaft.Do i need to split gearbox from back end to replace this? Also do i need pullers to remove bearing? Is this a major job as i am a one man show?

You will have to split at the rear as you say. If you replace the pinion bearings you will also have to check the backlash on the crown wheel and re-shim the crown wheel support bearings. This will mean dismantling the brakes.

Its a big job.
