High idle and oil leak questions.

Post by RH »

I have two questions that are foxing me a bit!

When the FSM has been working fairly hard,...hammer mill or a heavy harrowing, I find she has a higher idle afterwards.
When she's cooled down and re-started, it's back to normal.
It's not over-heating it seems.
Any ideas?

Also, there was no breather -bolt in the top of the gear-box, so I made one, as oil was seeping out around the base of the steering box.
It's made no difference,...oil still weeping out between gear-box and steering box.
Does it just need the seal, or do you think it's still pressuring up somehow?

Thanks for your time and advice!

Richard.

Richard,

The oil is coming out of:
1 Under the high/low unit. Renew the gasket and use silicone gasket.
2 Under the steering house. Renew the gasket and use silicone gasket.
3 Oil seal on the H/L lever. Renew oil seal.
4 Back end of the steering house. Renew the gasket and use silicone gasket between sims.
5 Outgoing steering shaft of the steering house. Renew oil seal. This will be grease cord / hemp tallow.

Make things very dry. Than try to locate the leak.
Kind regards, Henk
