The fuel system was a nightmare. The rack in the injection pump was rusty and was worn because it had been running dry. The 1st new lift pump had the wrong angle on the lever inside the block and would'nt operate. We fitted new injection pipes, and eventually found a complete set of the old larger sized nuts. The 1st new filter bowl had metric instead of imperial inlet/outlet threads. The modern fuel tap in the bottom of the fuel tank was badly constructed and leaked, tried several before I found a good one. It took weeks to find a pull-stop cable which had the correct style black round knob, every supplier had the later red square knob style for the Ford 1000 series.
The original belt pulley was noisey in the bearings, eventually found a good one from a breaker's yard.
At this stage you think you have everything you need for re-assembly. Wrong - panic phone calls to parts suppliers to get the missing bits quickly.
