Paint tip for Canadians

Post by GregMoore »

Sorry but I don't think this helps outside of Canada :) If you're looking for a paint that is literally 99% on the mark for the Fordson blue, Home Hardware brand Weathershield (aka BeautiTone) medium blue is nearly bang on. It comes in bombs or liters and I believe it is basically the same as Tremclad in that you should be able to add "WetLook" or similer automotive hardener to get more and longer lasting shine.. I sprayed some on an area I know was never repainted and the Medium Blue was just a very slight bit brighter. Given the age of the existing paint, it probably has darkened..

The Tremclad Dark Blue is way too dark and Medium Blue is much lighter.

Have yet to find a suitable orange but if going Ford colors, Tremclad has a off white that is reasonably close to the ford grey/white wheel/fender color..

Hope this helps! Not ideal for a purist or show tractor but bang on to restore a good worker..
