Hyd spilt colar?

Post by RH »

Morning gents,

A pal back home is looking for the split collar that secures the hyd. feed pipe, where it comes up to the top cover.

I have a photo but can't seem to post it direct from my comp.

Any ideas where he may find one?
Appears someone worked on it for him and didn't put the collar back in, and afterwards lost it.

Any help most appreciated,

Richard.

Hello Richard
Minus 34C. That's a bit nippy. Have you topped up your antifreeze? I'm talking Famous Grouse, not ethylene glycol!
The collets you need are going to be hard to find on the second-hand market. You may have to measure and have them made at your local machine shop.
Stay warm.

Hi Adrian, Happy NY - did you get my eventual PM back and sort your problem out? still trying to beat the 'new' laptop into submission, not entirely sure who is winning but at least I can get onto the interweb with it, mostly.
Best regards

Hi Richard,

Part # was E158GF9. I can imagine it´s been used in more and later Ford products. Couldn´t find a newer part number.

Get a new one machines might be the quickest solution, otherwise call a breaker.

Thanks for the replies, all.
I'll let him know.
May even have one myself, but it's on a rear end I never got home yet.

Adrian,

By some coincidence, I just got a bottle of antifreeze, and it Was Famous Grouse. (The other stuff you mention is a bit sweet and sticky for my taste....more of a liqueur )

They didn't have Talisker.....Just as well maybe!

Thanks again and stay warm.
Richard.

Hi Rick
Yes, solved my issue. Glad you're wrestling the new laptop into submission!
Richard, enjoy your well earned and much needed tipple! Re the collets, I've dropped and lost them in the past. One of those things you learn the hard way! I now hold them in place with PTFE tape when reassembling. If you ever need to disassemble again, the tape holds them in place and reminds you that these small, easily overlooked components are there.
Best, Adrian.
