fitting new wiring loom

Post by pars75 »

my mates fordson diesel was not showing a charge on the amp meter. we found out that there was a break in one of the wires from
dynamo to the control box.So we have decided to fit a new wiring loom.
would it be worth fitting a in line fuse in the wiring loom.

Where were you thinking of fitting the fuse - between the dynamo and control box? Or somewhere else in the loom?

Personally I wouldn't alter the new loom at all, assuming you get one which fits the tractor nicely, because every new terminal will be somewhere that can possibly corrode and cause unreliability. If you route the loom correctly, away from sharp edges and the exhaust manifold, it should last another 60 years!
