Levelling Box Puzzle

Post by Ambidextarous »

Instead of buying a complete levelling box at forty quid i have got just the worm for £6. Problem is, how do you get the worn one out and the new one in? Answers on a postcard, please, first correct entry wins a prize.

Steve.

Remove the handle, gear and welsh plug on the top and it just lifts out. Should be a 10 minute job!

I've chucked it across the shed. I'll have another go when my patience returns

Thanks for the pics Stefan, it's only the pin holding the handle that i'm having problems with, it just doesn't want to shift.

Hi Steve

Is that pin not possibly a tapered pin?

Best regards
Mervyn

hi
from memory theres a split pin holding in the cross pin of the swively bit ( technical term!!) take out split pin , knock out bigger pin removing swiveley bit. then unscrew the circular plug ( Brian called it a welsh plug) on the top of the arm then all should be clear come apart.
hope that helps
Mike

It did eventually tap out but it was a hell of a game. When i looked inside, it was the bearing that was shot and not the knuckle after all, it's in perfect order. I should have dismantled it before ordering the knuckle but i assumed it was that that was the problem. Might order some Hindsight when i order the bearing, but having said that, i might buy that and find i don't need it !!

Thanks for the help chaps. Steve.
