My name is Magne and I live in Norway. I just want to say hello. Have been reading this forum for more than a year. I must say that it is a goldmine when it comes to learn how these beautiful tractors is buildt. Thank you all for contributing. I have been working with Ford and Fordson for a couple of decades, and have 3 Dextas myself. It is a 60 Roadless 4wd Dexta, a 62 Dexta and a 63 Super Dexta.

Wecome to the board.

Look after that Roadless Dexta, if you have the plate on the axle and she is an original tractor she is worth many thousands of British Pounds.

I wondered that myself. Went and looked up the Roadless news yesterday to check. Yep both 1960.
We will both have to wait and see what Dexta Roadless has to say.

The tractor was nearly a wreck when I got it ten years ago. the engine, front differential, hydraulics, tin work, steering box, electric --- Everything except gearbox is overhauled. The big issue was to get new parts to the front axle, but Roadless made new parts for me.
Brian I am very sorry, but the tag on the front axle is gone, but I have the serialnumber on the piece behind the gearbox. I like this tractor very much, and I use it daily. There is an old picture of it on this site http://www.agle.no/rariteter.html. Picture number 5 from the top

What a pity, its the plate on the axle that is important as this would identify whether the tractor is original or if it has been made up.

The one we have in my village was valued at around £60,000 a few years ago by D Pantry according to the owner. That is complete and original, they found the history from Roadless's records.

If you don't have a tag on the front axle is a shame. but you are still one very very lucky man

to own a 4WD Dexta.
What mods did you do to get 55hp out of the NP Super Dexta engine.

Yes I fell lika a lucky man. I will never sell it so the value is the same for me. But Roadless could maybe find it with the serialnumber

Itwas just a happy accident. The engine I got had been overhauled
and changed the sylinder liners earlier back in the 70's, but the shop
who did that have bored out the block to put in thicker liners due to
the problem about liners loosening. Now they didn't get the excact
same liners, they were about 0,4 mm shorter so they cut down the
block that same hight. Then I was able to increase the compression
ratio to about 19.6:1 because the pistons became too high. I still
have good clearance to the sylinder head. With reinforced liners I
also adjusted the fuelpump just a little up to increase the fuel delivery.
I must mention that I changed the oil in the gearbox to 80W- 90
hypoid to stand the increased force

nice to hear of a 4wd being used daily instead of hidden away, ive always wanted one, nearly got one then the man selling changed his mind and now prices have gone sky high, you are a lucky man

If you give the tractor serialnumber to Roadless they will tell the axlenumber for a small cost. If i undestand it correct, Roadless bought all ( 78 ) Dexta 4WD conversion parts from Seléne and only put them together in England.

Not sure if it will work that way round Grani. The axles may have been moved from tractor to tractor.

That was the case with certain ones over here like a Super Dexta I know of. None of the tractor numbers line up with the axle number.

There are also companies that are "restoring" them by fitting splitter boxes from one and axles from another.

It is original tractors that make the big money.

This is true of course, but this way you will know if a tractor has been a Roadless from the beguining or if someone else has converted it.
I got my axenumber when i gave the serialnumber.

I had a talk with roadless again today, and they asked for both serial and engine number. I also gave them the number on the PTO unit
If both have a match and they found it there, it would be no problem. beside I know the whole history of the tractor, even talked with the dealer who sold it new.

But however it is the only detalj I am missing after ten years of
restauration which now is coming to an end.
At the moment I'm
doing the finishing paintjob. then I'll but a new picture in here.
