I don't know if you can help me. I have recently purchased a dexta tractor but I am trying to find out when this was manufactured. I think it is in the mysterious 1963 lot as who knows how high the serial numbers go before dropping off again to the lower no in that year
I have the following information.

Engine No. 1449680
Serial No. 09c929431
Casting No 3k16t4. 957e7505c
Gearbox No. 957e7005. T3 3L7
Rear Axle No 057E4013B. T4
Hydraulic Lift No. T6 3K8. C

Also not quite sure if it is a dexta or super dexta because it seemed to have a handbrake rather than the clip lock

I need this information as I would like to register it with DVLA

Tractor located in United Kingdom
I Hope you can help me please.
regards
Paul

Hi Brian

Feel free to delete this post once you have read it...I wanted to Private message you , but I can't find a link to do that...most odd.

I also know that on the first page, you do say that this thread is not the thread to post queries..but I can get hold of you via PM.

SO

Do you reckon you could maybe edit your very first post of this thread to include som basic information of where all the relevant serials/ casting numbers can be found..It would be a great help...

Please delete my message once read..this message will self destruct in 5 :yikes: ....4....3.....

I reciently acquired a 1959 Fordson Dexta. I am not sure the number I found on the chassis is the correct one. They are very hard to read, I am looking for whatever info I can get from the number.

1962 Fordson Dexta petro model, 87mm engine.
Serial # 09B712994
Engine # FPL2404E
Transmission # 957E7005
Hydraulic box# 957E750C

Bought it 3 years ago here at Truro Nova Scotia, Canada. Spent the last 2 winters rebuilding it and the hardest part in doing so is finding parts as the petro model is rare compared to the diesel models. Waiting on parts now from Silver Fox Parts from England to redo the distributor which is in very poor disrepair. The top bearing in this distributor is completely worn out which causes poor running. I’m a retired mechanic/welder so the technology is very simple but parts finding, not so.

I would caution everyone NOT to click on the link in the above message. It is totally irrelevant to tractors and may be dangerous. Please Moderators/Admin remove or inoculate!!! :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse:

Thanks Jerry I've had no experience with the admin side and find while I'm able to exclude the user I'm unable to delete the post !
I was able to edit it so hopefully that will be OK until one of the owners can tidy up after me ;)

Hope you didn't discover the problem the hard way !

Not sure if this topic retains any relevance, I think Brian was collating Dexta survivors but have not seen him active here since the departure of Oscar as owner, still, data is data so it ought to remain active in case others are following up

Re: Dexta Register. Factory Records

Post by LesWaters »

Can I ask a naive question please? What has happened to factory records for Fordsons in the UK. Surely records were kept of machines manufactured and dealerships etc to which they went. Do such records no longer exist or is there some way of accessing them? Does anyone have any knowledge to share on this please?
Many thanks

I would imagine Ford did do them, but I have no idea if they still exist or not. I would quite like to see them myself, to have a better idea of where our tractors started work.
