Nuts

Post by RossM »

What size nuts hold the exhaust manifold on? I am 2 missing. Also I had lost the nuts holding the injectors down before I sent it for its engine rebuild. The guys have used some nylocs for now but I want to replace them with originals, what size should these be?

There is a good fasteners suppliers near me so hopefully they'll have some when i know what size to get.

You could always take one of the nyloc nuts with you to the bolt shop. I presume you won't be driving your tractor to the shop.

nut size

The exhaust manifold nuts are 5/16 UNF (BRASS)
Injectors are 3/8 UNF.
Available at most agricultural dealers.

Try your local Exhaust centre, they must have loads from the older cars. speak to the guy who is the oldest and most UK cars had brass UNF nuts. I would guess and say most people with an old nut and bolt box has one or two lurking in there.
BTW don't be surprised to see you Nyloc has melted!
