Live Drive Clutch Plate changing?
Live Drive Clutch Plate changing?
How difficult is it to change the friction plates on a live drive dual clutch? I've a feeling mine are quite worn and about to split the tractor to replace the rear crank seal so thought it'd be a good time to change them. A complete clutch is £329 at agriline and I haven't got that sort of money! Both friction plates come to about £90 which is more than enough!

It isn't just a case of swapping the plates as the release arms have to be adjusted so they come off evenly under pressure from the thrust bearing. If they are not then you may end of with some fast rotating scrap in there and that may be even more expensive!
My tuppence worth.

In my eperience if the actuator arms and pivots are at all worn, after fitting new friction plates you will have difficulty disengaging the clutches.
If wear is present then the only satisfactory way is to fit a new clutch assembly.
In your case if the existing clutch is working I would leave well alone and plan on fitting a new assembly once funds are available.
