Hydraulic Return

Post by RossM »

Where would I tap a Hydraulic return pipe into the rear casing to be able to run a log splitter?

thanks for that, I think i've seen that done on a Ford 4000. Can a fitting be bought to enable this? Is there any other way of doing it?

what i did was take the oil filler plug out, drilled it and then put a hyd fitting ino the hole with a nut the other side that fits in the hex of the plug, then tightend up the fitting.
or you could braze the two together instead.

If you check post by Ambidextarous titled "wide front tyres" on 7th Jun 09 you will see a picture of how I plumbed my return in.
I did it the same as James

thanks, you have the same principle of going back into the filler. This must be the only way so i'll come up with some pipework to do the job. I too am intending to run a log splitter off it.

my return on my super goes in through the filler as above, easy enough to make yourself, you may need to tweak your pump pressure a little depending on the size of logs your splitting i've done mine as it is annoying when the valve blows off and it wont split the log!!! dont go to far though as you may be splitting your back end instead!!
sometimes you need 4!!!

This is my solution, a friend tapped the filler cap and I made up an elbow joint and connector.
The top of the elbow has a loose fitting that allows the diff to breath.
