Question about serial

Post by XPAD »

Hello,
I have just bought a diesel super dexta. This is my first tractor and I am so happy because I found this site. Now as you see at the following table that shows the serial numbers of the Super Dexta, and the corresponding year of manufacture at year 1963 (Jun-Dec) the numbers exept the 09C are between 916556-907331. At my Dexta the serial number is : 09C 923120 (IS THIS POSSIBLE ?) and the engine number is : 1636184

Super Dexta
Year Prefix Range
1962 (Apr-Dec) 09B 710530 - 731453
1963 (Jan) 09B 731454 - 900000
1963 (Feb-Jun) 09C 900001 - 916555
1963 (Jun-Dec) 09C 916556 - 907331 (colour change to blue/grey)
1964 (Jan-Sep) 09D 907332 - 928248 CEASED

Welcome to the board XPAD!
It is the best one out there!

Your numbers are ok and both fit for about a Sept/63 unit.
Casting codes will help verifiy it.

Others have Dexta/ Super Dextas that do not fit this chart as well.

Cheers,
Les

I search for casting codes and all I found was :
Serial Number : 09C 923120
Engine Number : 1636184
Pump : P4696
Gearbox : 957E 7005 T4 3J4
Cluch : 957E 7505C
Rear Axle : Left side 3J5 and Right side 3J3

I hope this will help you guys to find out the month and the year of the model.(Is a Super Dexta model ??) and how many are made ??

Ford numbers are very confusing at this time.

September 1963 started with 09C 921934 and finished with 09C 925340 (0r 925343 Export tractors).

January 1964 starts 09D but in my book it does not give the first number. The month finishes at 09D907332 and we don't get back to the 92..... numbers until June.

So you see why the prefix is so important when identifying these tractors.

Dextas, Super Dextas and petrol Dextas are all muddled together in the final years of production.

The casting codes you quote indicates July 1963 so you seem to have a totally original tractor.
