Axle pin issue

Hi, I am rebuilding the front axle of my '57 Dexta at the moment, and have got to the stage of removing the front axle pin and bush and replacing.
I have already bought a replacement part from Agriline which looks like this:
However, the part I removed from my tractor looks like this:

My question is: How is the pin I bought from Agriline, shown in the first picture held into the pivot housing of the axle?
Am I missing a part somewhere?

Ref the axle pin, have you looked at the parts list on fordson-dexta.de? There is a small plate that bolts on the front of the axle carrier which locates in the slot on the underside of the axle pin.

Sorry about the image issue, it should be resolved now.

Thanks for the advice, I will take a look at the parts list.

I suspected that there should be a plate of some sort to keep the pin in place.

It looks like in my case that this has been lost and a replacement from a ferguson or something has been used.

Our axel in in bits atm and it has a pivot pin retainer as in the image (item 39). It should be easy enough to fabricate a new one if you go for the propper job but if the fergie one works and doesnt cost any more then go for that one.

The retainer keeper is retectangular and has a sole purpose to wedge the axle pin from rotating. Most salvage yards with backhoes have these applenty. It can be fabricated easily.

I agree, while for collector types would desire the original style pin, I find the Ferguson pin a better built part, especially if the pin is to be remove at any point for maintenance and reInstalled.

indeed, you had a Ferguson part on the Dexta.
My recommendation is not to use the MF part as the axle needs some free play to move around (I'm not talking about inches !!). but a tight fit on that single bolt is not recommended.

I must say I agree with Jos. Many years ago I had an insident with a fergie that this pin fell out. This was because of wear and tear had cut the screw holding it. The result was smashed radiator ++. I belive that the system on the Dexta is much safer.
