Injector information

Post by russelm »

Hi all

I have been checking my injectors over ready to get them setup/tested and I have found that I have 2 different coded injector nozzles.

I have

2 off NH153A
1 off NH389

So....I am assuming this is not ideal!

Just to add, the pintles in the NH153A's are free, the one in the NH389 is certainly not!

I posted about the same thing awhile back but was unable to find out if the injectors could be identifed by their numbers, there is adifference in the size of the injection holes as the super has smaller holes than the standered dexta , Gerry

Checking my notes I have Dexta nozzle has 2 x 0.35 mm holes and the Super Dexta has 2 x 0.32 mm holes. The opening pressure is given as 160 atmospheres.

I would take the injectors to your local injector/fuel pump specialist and have him fit new nozzles and adjust the atomising pressure. It should cost you about £60.00, which in the long run would be cheaper than refurbishing your old nozzles!

Thanks all

I have called my local diesel setup for prices for injector refurb (County Diesels at Syston) and they want £47.50 plus the Vodka And Tonic each!

Has anybody any experience of:

http://www.southerntractorspares.co.uk

As they offer an exchange service at 21 notes each which sounds excellent.

I think they are OK.
Do a search on here as I think their injector refurb has been mentioned before. I have bought parts from them, inc a duff heater switch which I'm waiting for them to replace.

I have bought spares from them in the past and was satisfied with their service.

£21.00 seems a reasonable price to recondition an injector.

Hi, Russel,

Were those from Southern Counties?

I am thinking of sending some there too.

Regards,
Mark

Yes they were.

A nice job done, recommended by me (I checked the pop pressures and spray pattern on the tester at the heritage centre this afternoon).

New nozzles fitted, bodies cleaned and reset.

Gets my

Just had our injectors serviced, cleaned and reset at a local diesel specialist. One inject required a new nozzle. It all cost £60 collected them yesterday after they had them for one day.

Hi Chris
We went to Keresley Garage Coventry. Its on the Tamworth Road on the Fillongley side of the Royal Court Hotel.

Pretty good service but we haven't refitted the injectors yet. He charges £15 for clean test & reset then £15 per nozzle if required so this may cost £90 if all three injectors are in a poor state but ours were functional.. A local garage saves the faffing with postage and helps the local economy.

On another note I got a full head gasket set for £28 inc VAT from Sutton & Sons near Nuneaton and it was off the shelf! They do a lot of tractor refurbs so check out the website:
