Radius Rods

Post by marcusgs »

Hi,

I have a dexta with quite badly bent radius rods, so much so that I don't really want to put them back on my currently being restored tractor, without some sort of rectification.

I understand that this is quite a common problem with the dexta.

Have you guys any experience with this problem?

My thoughts are currently:

1) Try and get someone to straighten them
2) Cut the bent bits out and weld in new sections
3) Buy some repro ones (Which I currently can only find for the MF35, do these fit?)

Anyone who has any other thoughts please help!

Thanks,
Mark

it is quite easy to just straighten them in a press. With one of my tractors I use to turn them upside down every second year or so to let the tractor it self to do the job. but I use this in transportation i rough terrain in the mountain.

I have heard of a method of straightening them, I have never tried this so I can't say if it works.

Hold the small end in your hands and swing the radius arm so that it strikes a tree stump where it needs to be straightened. After striking the stump a few times, look at the arm and see if it has become more straight. It was reported that this worked well and did not take as many strikes as you might think.
Let us know if you try this, I would be interested in the results.

Howdy; where are you located? shipping distance makes all the difference in the world. I might have a lead on two (2) if you are not too far away. brownsmule 1961 Dexta
