Straightened radius arms

Post by gcamp »

I did it! I got both radius arms in much better shape.
I was still unsure of how much pressure the arms could take without kinking, but am definitely glad I kept pushing now. They are much easier to look at.

Figured out how to put photos in my post, too. :)

The right arm was the worst so I only included a picture of it so as not to bore anyone.

And, here is how I did it. My friend with the press wasn't around and then I remembered I have a 20 ton press (of sorts) of my own. I used my "shadetree" mechanic experience and it worked out great. The long 4x6 gives support on the length wherever needed and also using wood against the arm prevents any unnecessary scarring.

Thanks again for the advice and opinions,

Gene,

Awesome press!!
Now, why didn't I think of that?
Photos are great too!
Hope to see more of them.

Nice job, and a clever use of the splitter. Well done.
