Hydraulic problem

Post by XPAD »

I am restoring my super dexta 1963 diesel model and i have some troubles with the hydraulic system. When i lift up the arms without any load..... the arms plays up and down for 4 cm at any possition continuously.
Why that happens ?

Sounds like the lift is correcting. This is due to either an oil leak internaly or linkage out of adjustment.

Lift the arms to the top, stop the engine and pull out the auxillary service knob.

What happens? Does the lift drop or does it stay up?

If it drops, problem is piston seal, ram cylinder safety valve, ram cylinder "O" rings.

If it continues to drop, the problem is control valve, unload valve, check valve.

Bent linkage/linkage adjustment is covered in an article on the Wiki. (fordsontractorpages and dotty are the codes you need to access).

Do you have a long/heavy implement on the arms?
