Petrol Dexta Muffler Clearance

Post by Lesfen »

Hi,
Could someone with an original Petrol Dexta muffler setup please measure the distance from the bonnet or hood to the outside of the muffler?
Ours has a front end-loader and a homebuilt straight pipe exhaust.
I would like to put it back to original if there is room.

Thanks,
Les

Mine had the muffler mounted under the foot plate when I got it. I converted mine using part No B1808 on the following page.

http://www.bareco.com.au/files/massey2001/mf45.htm

Only down side is a small drain hole in the bottom of the elbow which drips rusty water on the starter. I think I'll block this as it has a rain cap fitted anyway.

Thanks pjjms,

Considering a similar setup for ours.

Would you be able to tell me how far that elbow places the far side of the muffler away from the hood?

I need enough room for it to fit between the hood and the frame of the front end loader.

Hi Les,
A couple of things.

Firstly, I don't know if we are running the same diameter mufflers so I have measured to the center line of the muffler.

Secondly, I don't have the bonnet fitted at present so I have measured from the exhaust manifold, not the ridge at the bottom of the manifold where the exhaust elbow bolts on, but the main part of the manifold just above that.

It measures 100mm.

Regards Peter
