Dexta project

Post by pileofbits »

Hello,

I've been viewing this forum for quite a while now and finding it a fantastic source of information, thanks! I thought it was about time i posted my efforts on my long running Dexta project. I bought the tractor from llanrwst N.wales and a second engine nearby, it has been moving on its own steam for a while but recently has been put to good use Powerharrowing on a friends farm. There are many things still to do lots of play in bushes and the front of the tractor has been used as a brake in the past! but here is the progress so far...

How it arrived

After borrowing my friends 35's wheels i couldn't resist a play!

Cheers,

I was in 1st low most of the time with plenty of power. 2nd low was a bit fast and i started to burn the paint off the exhaust  up the hill but she pulled all the way and didn't get hot which i'm chuffed at. Took a bit of getting used to non live drive, I'm used to a air seat and dynashift!

Don't worry about the exhaust in my experience factory paint peels/burns off at tick over (probably ordinary paint :curse: ) , I just grind them back to bare metal and spray them with silver heat resistant paint (carplan at the moment ) it'll last year's running at full throttle all the time

I'm currently sandblasting the wings and wheels ready for painting. What colour is the exhaust meant to be? I've seen blue and silver ones.

It is true that many original Dexta leaflets did show the exhaust as blue.
However, silver paint is probably more heat resistant, so that's what most people go for these days.
I shouldn't worry about it!

Thanks for the tips on exhaust colour, i suspect i will stick with silver. Not much progress except for moving a few round bales  and trying to top nettles with this!
