Dexta single clutch release lever finger adjustment.

Post by pat777 »

http://tractorspares.ie/Manual%20Part5.pdf

I'm quoting from the service and repair manual.
The screws(referring to the release lever adjusting screw) are set and locked in position during initial assembly; in service no attempt should be made to alter this setting.
Now the problem I have is that a previous owner of my Dexta has adjusted these screws, so they are no longer "factory set", they need adjusting for my clutch to work correctly. I have searched previous threads for any discussion with regards to adjusting these screws to no avail. Can anybody advise me as to how these adjusting screws are set up correctly? Are there any references to measurements etc?

As an aside, http://www.fordson.se/4A_Koppling_Suple ... 01-016.pdf

Section 4 page 5 of the above link shows how to adjust the clutch release lever adjustment screws using an depth guage on a fordson major.
Adjust the release lever adjusting screws, using a depth gauge so that a dimension of 1.769 to 1.831 in.
(44.93 to 46.50 mm.) exists between the top of the
adjusting screw and the top face of the gauge block.
It is important that the three levers are adjusted in
this plane to within 0.015 in. (0.38 mm.). (See Fig.
7.)

Have you a copy of the Dexta workshop manual clutch section?
In there are given dims for pressure spring length free & compressed.
But I don't know if these will help you.

Thanks for the reply Bensdexta. I do have a copy of the manual, unfortunately those measurements are not of any use in this instance. I'm looking for measurements, which it appears the manufacturers did not release to the general public, as the clutch release levers were factory set and no attempt should be made to adjust them. I was just hoping that somebody with more knowledge of the Dexta than I have had managed to work out the correct adjustment.

Here is a link to a youtube clip of some one adjusting the clutch fingers, different tractor. It just seems peculiar to me that the Fordson Major manual has information on the topic of adjusting the clutch fingers, whereas the Dexta manual does not.

If anybody has any experience of making any kind of adjustments to the dexta clutch, please share any knowledge you have on the subject. Has anybody ever had to make adjustments to a newly supplied clutch, where it was not set up correctly in the factory?

Cheers Pat

This is a link to another forum with some one adjusting the fingers on clutch of a mf 135. It's just to give an idea of the kind of adjustments I need to make on my own clutch. (If only I had the correct measurements to work to)
