help!

I finally got my super dexta to start and run but when it runs on under its own power (fresh fuel) it automatically runs at high rpms. Something in the fuel pump is dumping a lot of fuel to the motor allowing it to run at high rpms consistently. Any pointers before I dive into the pump? Only way to shut it off is to turn the fuel line off and let it burn the fuel. Engine kill doesn't kill it. Thank you.

Have you got a tap on the feed to the heater plug in the manifold? If so try turning it off.

It should have a Minimec pump if it is a Super Dexta and it could be the governors are stuck/damaged. If so that is a job for a specialist pump man.
You could try removing the sidee plate on the pump and checking the rack moves backward and forward, with a screw driver. Be careful to clean all around the plate and do not get any dirt in there. A good squirt around with easing oil, WD40 or similar and a gentle levering of the rack could sort the problem but be careful about dirt, grit or even dust getting into the pump.

Check that it does not have a vacuum governed pump fitted, if so it could be a hole in the governor diaphragm.

Yes it is a super dexta. Perfect I'll dive into the pump a little more. I pulled the side plate off and it had some grime in it. I just didn't want to dive into it more than needed (removing the pump)
