Southern Tractors Fuel Primer

Post by agroman »

I have just received a fuel primer tap from Southern Tractors. In the box there is a warning notice about only using clean fuel, otherwise it will damage the primer. Question is, is the in tank filter adequate for this or should I look to remove tank and use a sealer kit? for sure there will be rust and crap in the tank.

Also I have a fuel line pipe from Agriline to fit between fuel primer and manifold. The pipe flare on the primer end is poor and the pipe is loose when pipe union is tight. Is this a case of cutting and re flaring the pipe to give a tight fit or should I use a 1/4" olive + flare?

hi, on several post going back there has been bad reports on the aftermarket
fuel primer with them leaking mybe this has been sorted out by now ,
but mybe this is a get out cluase for s , if the pump is fit for purpose as
it should be then why should one have to take the tank out to replace a
primer pump :scratchhead: phone s up and ask them will they stand by
the product before fitting and then you wil at least get you hard earned back
if its not up to the job, let us know how it works out, as a good fuel primer pump
would be worth its weight in well not gold but mybe brass :)

Hi sorry sky blue, I meant the original post. Is Southern Tractors the same as Southern Counties Tractors?

icouldnt say but the taps probley all come from the same sorce in turkey
or where ever , doesnt really matter who supplies them, thats why a
lot of tractor restorers will go for the old orignal and try to bring them back to life
not to say yours may be a good one, but just to be sure the warning in with it isnt a
cope out clause, to many have got stung by these money making suppliers with no
come back if the part isnt fit for purpose, [ rant over for to-day :) ]
mybe im gettig old and crabed  with age
