rear axle removal

Post by sloch »

I want to replace the worn link pins on my 1965 super dexta I have tried to seperate the nearside trumpet from the diff housing which I thought would come away with halfshafts still in place but it appearsthat the crown wheel wants to come out also , what is the correct procedure please for both sides

Crown wheel will come out on that side, the inner bearing holds it in place. Should be no problem as it will go straight back in but is a bit heavy. Even if you take the half shafts out first (not needed) the dif will still drop out when you take that side off.
