Proto-Dexta?

Post by Matt85 »

Hey, I was checking tractorhouse the other day. And I saw this http://m.haasequipment.net/List/Tractor/ForSale/8414339

has anyone ever seen one or even heard of a protype dexta before? To me it looks like somebody just slipped a ford or perkins 3 cylinder into their 8n.

I have read somewhere that Frank Perkins fitted a P3 into a Ford 8N for his own use for trials on his farm. He was looking to sell engines to replace the petrol ones in use at that time. I do not know whether Perkins got around to selling kits to do this or just experimented with Ford N series tractors, they certainly marketed a kit for Ferguson Te 20's. The N series was not a common tractor over here due to the Ferguson patent battle.
