The model name Dexta?

Post by Grani »

Do the word Dexta have any other meaning than just a tractor model name. Like Major's a synonym for bigger, but Dexta??

There are numerous theories about where the name came from but no one really knows. One is that it is derived from the word "Dexter" which is also the name of a breed of small tough cattle. It means "Right hand" in Heraldry ( dexter = right, sinister = left).

So perhaps the name is to indicate that the Dexta is the Majors right hand. :D

Adding to what Brian has said, there is another word which may have influenced the marketing name... Dexterous meaning deft, adept, adroit, agile, nimble, handy, able, capable.
