Sleeve removal on super dexta

Post by Bchaney »

Hi, I'm getting blowby on my engine. I was talking to a mechanic about overhaul it and he was asking me if it had wet or dry sleeves. Can anyone tell me which one and what is the best way to remove them if it can't just be honed and new ring put on. Thanks Brent

dry sleeves, you can put new rings in it, do not know if you get oversize rings or not? probably not, everybody probably going to say why not replace the liners and pistons also, then you almost have a new engine, you can go to youtube and watch some videos on sleeve removal

I took my 1963 super dextra block to the machine shop . He pressed out the old sleeves(what was left of them} pressed the new ones in and honed the them to fit the new pistons.

Thanks, I was looking on agriline website and they are selling liners that are semi finish. What does that mean? Do I have to get them bored after I install them?

Thin Wall Cylinder Liners -
Semi-Finished Vs. Finished

If the parent bore diameters, out-of- round or taper are out of specification or even marginal, semi-
finished liners should be fitted and then bored and honed to size.
