Hydraulic pump gasket

Hey, I'm trying to remove my hydraulic pump so I can replace my gasket. I have had it removed before while working on my lift. I had the lift removed that time but I was wondering if I can remove it without taking the top off. I haven't got a clear answer yet from some of the post I have read. From what I gather you have to just pull the pto out. Is that correct. And when installing a new gasket do any of you use sealant also or just the gasket. Thanks Brent

I just found in a book where it says it should pull out after you remove the bolts. But mine is only coming out about a 1/4"

Hi,

Pto shaft has to go out first. The pump is above the shaft.

Hi,

I'm wrong with the above. That's for a major. For a Dexta I'm not sure.

Think it should go out, but can't remember how it works with the filters

The intake filter is tight on the "O" ring into the pump. There is nothing else holding it.

Filter is the black bit on the left not the shiny one on the right.

Just replaced mind, the pump will come out with a pry bar, the problem is when you go to replace it, is pushing it in the intake filter, it gives, you need the top off to hold it! I put the thin gasket from agriline, hope not to blow the o ring out.
I used sealant and gasket, and you do not have to pull the PTO out.
