Hi Super Dexta owners,
After replacing the oil in my fuel pump I cannot seem to stop the drip from the drain plug. I bought a new copper washer this week but that has not made any difference. Are there different types of copper washers for different applications? The new washer is identical to the original.

It is quite possible that the copper washer has hardened with age. Heat the washer until it is red hot and quench it in water, this will anneal the copper and make it softer.

Annealing the copper washer did not help :( .
Using Donald Trumps quote calling us "Shithole countries" :curse: , with a little skill and initiative I was able to stop the leak, now stopped since before Christmas. :D

Well done!

Thanks Gerald, just needed to remove some paint around the hole using a flat file and bingo. :D

Glad to hear you have managed to stop your leak on your fuel pump Mervyn. Sometimes it just takes a slight step back and look at things in another perspective. I learned a long time ago when fault finding to always look at the simple things first. Well done.

Thanks Charlie, absolutely right. When I took a closer look at the washer I noticed a scratch/groove and the same had occurred on the new washer so that was the clue. I then ran my finger over the hole and definitely felt a ridge.
