at any revs what can be the problem?

could it need re-flashing?

Should go off around 1000 rpm Ben. Will be dynamo and/or control box. They will need to be matched i.e 11 amp or 22 amp units, but we have covered that I think.

We always changed both as one can cause the other to fail.

I had this problem recently. Hit the control box with a spanner, and it went away.
