4600/4610 hydraulics

Post by rich2a »

hi,
my q cabbed ford (single hyd pump) has a mill marquis fitted loader .
It is really slow,as is a tipping trailer. both lift/tip with full load no bother.
i`ve put flow control in fast ,but its still very slow - it did`nt make much difference to be honest
changed the filter ,and tried increasing revs but no noticable change in speed
any ideas /settings/ tips please? :( :(

We had an Allied 660 loader on our old 4000. Performance was never impressive with the transmission mounted pump.

We ended up installing a crankshaft driven pump, mounted out front and shaft driven, along with a dedicated hydraulic system just for the loader. That worked very well.

The 4610 we have now has twin pumps and closed-center load sensing hydraulics. It also works very well and is much smoother when operating the lift and bucket cylinders simultaneously.

Your 4600 should have a flow rate of around 5 gal/minute from the single pump. Not fast but average. I have a TE20 Fergy as my loader tractor and that is really slow but I can still load my spreader at a fair rate and it is far faster than with a hand fork. :D

Loader ram size can make a difference and are you feeding a valve chest or taking the feed to the loader from the tractor ASC direct?

Setting the flow control will not help as, when the control lever is move into the raise position, internal linkage puts the flow control in maximum.
